Woozlies

Woozlies

Have you ever seen a Woozly bear?

They’re handsome creatures, with flowing long hair

They don’t go for honey, or salmon on rocks…

Who wants long and wet stringy locks?

These golden bears love nothing more

Than scoffing acorns, cooked or raw

But they’re littler than the other bears

Despite being blessed with strapping long hairs

A pack of Woozlies is a great delight

When spotted on a clear, dry night

Glow in the dark does golden fur

And glitter in the day, as it were

But rarer these days, less bears you’ll find

Because to forests and wild we’ve not been kind

If only more oaks were here, instead of roads

Then Woozlies would outnumber toads

Instead we have more sloppy frogs

More insects from sticky, smelly bogs

Oh! This golden beast prefers a cosy wood

Like little humans also should

But despite all that, there are some parts

Where Woozlies live with golden hearts

Those lucky people nearby know

There’s golden bears come rain and snow

Out in the wild, having fun

Shining beautifully in the sun

This mightiest of British beasts

Leaving oak trees around every feast

Tough as rocks but soft as grass

They’ll always wave to the local class

That’s just what these bears will do

Be friendly and kind to kids like you.

Don’t feel sorry or think they're bored

If you should be lucky and see them abroad

These Woozlies have varied interests

Like making big, colourful treasure chests

Inside they store all manner of things

Like fairy jewels and magic rings

Woozlies have this trick you see

Of finding surprises near every tree

They keep them round their snuggly nests

Or in pockets on their thick, warm vests

And maybe one day, not too long

There’ll be more places where they’ll throng

Until then let’s count the cost

Of all the Woozlies that we’ve lost

Because no one cared as they should

For bird, or creature, river or wood

With curly and blonde, long flowing hair

This cuddly little bundle’s so rare

You probably don’t believe they're real

But it doesn’t matter how you feel

Because the wonder and magic on which you rely

A Woozly never passes by…

So next time you sing Santa songs

Or feast on chocolate from easter gongs

It’s Woozlies you should hurry to find

Because magic is never far behind.

"James, do you ever fell like you need to come back down to Earth" - They asked. "No, I just want to find people to fly with me".
